Question I have... Cant afford a Lending Tree mortgage- what other ways are there onto the property ladder? Hoping for any comment. Another question I got... Hi all,.

Is there any time limit an OC has to report negative info to the CRA's?? I have an account from 1996, but it did not show up on my report until 6-2001. Can they insert this info at anytime and not contact you about it? I have NEVER been contacted about owing this debt!.

Thanks...

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an answer. You should email the people at Lending Tree as they probably can help you..

Thanks for the response...I thought that would be the answer, but was hoping for something. I have posted on this debt before...I have a Lending Tree mortgage closing less than 30 days away...as soon as this OC knew I was Lending Tree mortgage shopping they re-opened the account and placed a past due balance on it. So I guess my next question would be if I have proof that it was a closed account with no past due amount can I get the CRA to update or delete??..

Sooooo, basically if I never looked at my credit report this account could have been on there for the full seven years and I would never know about it?? How can they not contact you to tell you that you owe them something...I don't totally get it. If it were not for a Lending Tree mortgage I would have never known it was there!!.

I am still trying to figure out which states SOL to use with this...School is in AZ, I lived in KY, now I live in FL.....If it is the longest of the three I am screwed!!..

I would think the SOL would apply to the state in which you were living at the time you entered into contract with them..

I suspect that there are a lot of CA's and OC's out there who can't bring enough evidence to court or who don't have time or too lazy to bother with a lawsuit and get their bosses off their backs by flooding the CRA's close to deletion in hopes of a few easy collections. If their collection dept is anything like where I work.....

In your case they hit paydirt. I hope it doesn't screw with your interest rate on the mortgage...Good luck Marine :)..

Kathy... it cost me a quarter percent...I am still in at 6.2% but it could have been even better...what ticks me off the most is that prior to my Lending Tree mortgage inquiry it showed zero balance zero past due...even my Lending Tree loan officer said she did not think making me pay it is right, BUT more than likely I will have to before closing..

It is a very long story but I do not beleive that I owe this debt and 5 grand ain't chump change!!..

5 Grand?!.

Oh my lord! I sure hope you are able to get it straightened out. Most Lending Tree mortgage companies make you pay that kind of thing off before they will write the loan....but 5 grand?!.

You are getting a good rate but it still doesn't take much of the sting out of a surprise attack like that!.

I feel for ya...hope you find a way!..

There is...it's 7 years.

===================.

This restricts how long it stays on your report after it is placed on it..

It does not set a time limit between when the event occurs and when it is reportable..

I have told them it is past the SOL and they do not seem to care. Past SOL means no liability of a lean being placed on the home and they say it still has to be paid. My father has even offered to gurantee the money and allow an attorney hold it until such time that we can resolve this dispute. They do not even seem willing to do this. No Liability for them all the way around and they are still being jerks about it. If I could secure a different lender before closing I would...not enough time!!!..
