My question is Can you use MuchMusic Prepaid Discover Card for World of Warcraft? Many thanks for any response. Another quick question... Question. I opened a Capital One account 12 years ago and it has been charged off and closed for a few years now. I just started receiving collection calls again from them. Based on the SOL, I'm not obligated to pay them. Can they report this to my credit again as it dropped off after seven years... |

Yup, but you might want to make sure and wait for someone else to confirm my answer as I am not sure. Better yet, why don't you give a call to the Discover Card guys because they can answer your Discover Card question better...

How long is a couple years? When someone mentions couple years, I think 2-3 at most. To me if it's 2 years Sol, that's not a long time. Most states have 4-6years Legal SOl's. I don't think I've seen a state that has a 2year legal sol. Just because you OPENED it 12 years ago, doesn't make it out of legal Sol..
Legal & Reporting sol starts from DOFD (Date of first Default). But as peanut mentioned, they can try and collect till the cows come home, but their are federal guidelines as to how long it can actually be reported... |
I think of couple as 2, a few as 5. He said a few. But yeah we need to know the actual DOFD to better assist..

I'm going to say at least 7 years, since he wants to know if they can put it BACK on his credit report..
Anyway, I'm in the same boat with them. I had an account that was charged off in 2002. It's finally off my CR as of November, but it keeps getting shuffled from one CA to another 'collection lawyer' to another. It's currently with ARS who is calling me even after I got the green card back so I may go after them. Cap 1 even went so far as to 'personally' send me an offer to cut off the interest if I worked out a payment plan - in an attempt to re-age the account which was over 6 years since DOFD at that time... |
Well I opened it in '98 and it defaulted in '00. It was a college Discover card that I had no business getting. I'm in IL and I believe the SOL is 2 years. They haven't called in a couple weeks but I'm expecting they will soon...

Capital One goes by their state (I want to say VA maybe) law, I've heard, which is a 3 year SOL. There's nothing they can do about a 10 year old debt except beg you to pay it...
Lie low. It is well known that crap1 uses the VA SOL of 3 years but I wouldn't rest easy. Has this ever gone to a CA?..
Yes it has gone to a CA, several different ones in the past. It's been so long I forgot about it...
I would think you could file a harassment lawsuit if they call to much or threaten you... not sure though....
