First of all Can U PUT MONEY INSIDE A Discover Card? Thanks in advance for any response. Another question on my mind: Http://consumerist.com/2010/01/how-your-on...our-credit.html.. |

You betcha! although you might want to make sure and wait for another member to confirm this as I am not very confident. Better yet, why don't you give a call to the Discover Card guys because they can answer you better...

There are people out there who use their real first and last names on these web sites? Well duh. I say let's not do that, folks...
I don't use them but imagine signing up on a social networking site with an alias would have to limit it's utility, no?..
I have a fb account, but rarely ever on it..
I also have my settings to "private" so only those on my friends list can see it.. |
If you pretend that these websites are websites and only post things that wouldn't hurt you if made public, then you shouldn't have a problem. Also, don't allow random people access to your profile and you reduce the likelihood you'll be spied upon...
Exactly..
These are networking tools, and just like any tool.... be smart on how you use it.. |
I have a facebook that I use my real name on, but all setting are private that only my friends can see. I really don't have anyhting band posted anyway, unless being a farmville addict is a bad thing!..
This isn't a social networking site afaik..
I assume most people use their real names on linkedin etc and apply private setting or however it works.. |
A few years ago I set up a fake profile just so I could spy on people..
I log in maybe every couple of years.. And I THOUGHT I used a junk e-mail address.. BUT, they found me any way... |
You can use your real name if you're interested in old friends or classmates finding you, but I have 400+ people in my friends list on MySpace and virtually none of them use their real names. We still managed to find each other.. a cyber miracle, if you will..
I can't imagine discussing credit/debt problems in detail publicly under one's real name. Wow.. ETA: Bob, you don't. Have. Any credit/debt problems, so this doesn't apply to you.. This post has been edited by. Elizabeth_Speaking. : 15 January 2010 - 02:16 PM.. |

Another "Oldies hating on new technology" thread?.
I have a facebook account, with my real name, linked to all my family and closer friends. The settings are private and locked out from the rest of the world.. And even if someone managed to gain access to my account they would find vacation photos, inspiring quotes as statuses, and learn that I'm a fan of Ksekrainer.. I fail to see the fear. Online networking allows me to stay in touch with people I otherwise would not have... |
Since that's all you're discussing, there's nothing.
To. Fear.. My. Incognito status is due to my celebrity. If anyone ever finds out who I really am, all hell will break loose... |
Never been on.
MYSPACE or FACEBOOK. ...did I miss something important???.. |
The only networking I do is on LinkedIn, but that really isn't.
Social. Networking. Profile is set to private, and I only have 24 connections. +1.. |
There was another story in the news recently about someone's health insurance benefits being revoked due to their Facebook page...
This is why I don't use Facebook, Myspace, etc. If I need to contact/keep-in-touch with someone, I'll use a good ol' telephone/cellphone...
