My first question is Can I get s Lending Tree mortgage in canada with bad credit? Hoping for any response. My 2nd question... This is for one of Pop's old accounts reported to collections in 1996 - $200 on a Mobil Gas Card! Now, SOL for opens in my state is 5 years and 3 years in the originating state so I know they can't get this. It should be aging off Pop's report this year..

They are offering a whopping 25% discount if we pay w/in 30 days!! lol Honestly, a few months ago an uneducated me paid an expired Sears off through one of these offers....

We never heard form them in all this time until I started verifying Pop's accounts through the online disputes earlier this month. Should I reply with a verification just so we can get the official dates from them or just wait to see what the online verifications come back as?..

Ye, but... you might wanna make sure and wait for another member here to confirm my answer as I am not quite sure. Better yet, why don't you give a call to the Lending Tree guys because they can give you an answer better...

We put a few disputes through on Pop's CRs just through the online system for each agency - this was a little over a week ago and we have not gotten any results back from them yet. Cavalry was one of them - one report was showing Mobil AND Cavalry for the same account..

Today we got the letter from Cavalry and I can only imagine it is because there was activity from the CRA. One CRA says Mobil collection account since 4/96 and Cavalry collection account since 8/02 and that it was opened 8/01. A different CRA says the Cavalry DOLA was 4/96..

Pop remembers the Mobil account but had never heard of Cavalry, so I'm not sure they ever contacted him (I can only vouch for the past 3 years and I haven't heard of them before now)..

What do you think?..

Validation letter? No way, I would contact the CRA (possibly on the phone) or through fax and tell them that the DOLA had expired on the account. Tell them that the company must have reaged it because it is on the other 2 CRA's as 4/96..

Good Luck..

Will it hurt me to send the validation letter? This should age off in a few months, but I sure would like to have some official paperwork on file here at home. Pop wasn't a very good record keeper before he met me!! -lol-..

It still has a couple of months before it falls off. The CA now knows she is trying to "clean up" and are therefore giving one last dieing collection effort. The other two CRA'sif she called them, will probably put it back into investigation, and as long she doesn't do anything to make the CA validate, they will probably verify the more current DOLA..

I wouldn't risk them trying to reage on the one CRA when they figure out what she's up to. Illegal, but a bigger mess to clean up. Validate and lock them in. (IMMHO)..

Luckymom,.

Same thing happened to me with Cavalry. Went for disputing, they verified. Then sent me a collection letter. Mine had a DOLA of 1/97, so it was uncollectable also. Sent them a validation letter and they could not validate, so they informed the CRAs as well as myself (by letter) to delete the account. This was about 3-4 months ago.

Just my opinion though,.

Hope this helps,.

Thanks! Being an educated consumer is fun!! :p.

Since this is aging off soon anyway, and uncollectable, I am just going to fax them a validation instead of spending for a CMRRR! -lol-..
