Quick question: Best credit card Visa, Discover Card, Discover or Amex for use outside US? Thanks for any answer or 2. Another question... If I freeze my EX am I able to still do disputes to continue to clean it up? All my other reports are nearly perfect but EX is a disaster - I dont want any creditor looking at! Also, if I'm mid-dispute, can I still freeze it?..

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to that question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I bump into an useful answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could assist you..

Is there anyway to tell if your files are frozen, short of applying for credit or buying a FICO score? I did temporary lifts not long ago to apply for credit but I'm not sure how to tell if the freeze automatically went back into effect..

Check your Experian report. Near the bottom it will say something about security freeze and state law if it is currently frozen...

FREEZE.

Does not prevent any disputes.

But keep it quiet...some here have an.

FEAR.

Of it..

With EX, I wish I could burn my file, rather than freeze it..

And not because it's my worst, I'd just like to hope a spark.

Lands nearby and sets the entire building ablaze....

EX's F-U stance towards the consumer has insured they will.

Stay frozen for a very long time...

Thanks CreditMonitor. Experian does say "FILE FROZEN DUE TO STATE LEGISLATION" under the Personal Statments tab..

I know TU is frozen because I can't get my FICO score, but I'm sure Equifax is not, even though the lift was only temporary..

I have read other places where an Equifax freeze somehow was not reinstated after the temporary thaw time period but I have yet to find a soulution. From what I've read so far calling EQ is useless...

I froze mine while disputing items. One does not seem to affect the other. I have several ongoing EX disputes and mine is frozen as a Popsicle..
