Got a question... Are there credit cards (visaand Discover Card) that want do balance transfers? Many thanks for any response. Another question I got... Noticed that DH's last request for a GLI was 4/09 - called and they bumped him up from $1500>$2100. He asked for $3K but no go. Not bad for a card that started at $400 CL in 4/08, but disappointing in light of our buying an $1800 mattress set and a $2200 couch from them in the last 12 months. Can't complain, though - Macy's has been great to us... |

Ye, but... you might wanna make sure and wait for another member here to confirm it as I am not confident. Better yet, why don't you contact the Discover Card guys because they can give you an answer better...

That's extremely strange. Macys is a prolific Experian puller. If you'll look at the Credit Pulls database, you can see that out of 8 pages of reported Macys applicants, there are only 12 entries total that are for Equifax pulls, and some of those were because Experian was frozen and unavailable. You must not have entered your Macys store card approval, since there aren't any recent ones from Massachusetts, and only 1, in total from Mass. was an Equifax pull, and that was back in 2007. Macys pulling soft, that frequently, is almost never seen..

When I applied for the store card in September 2008, they pulled EX and EQ. When I upgraded to the Visa, EX was pulled..
I guess they just monitor me through EQ... |

They always pull Experian for the Macys Visa, according to Macys credit services. Did you remember to update the Credit Pulls database for the Macys Visa approval ? The Equifax pull for the store card appears to be a secondary pull for approval after pulling Experian...

I received my last customer initiated guide line increase 3 months ago. Today I call them again and the operator asked me for how much of an increase I was looking for (currently at 1300), $500 I replied and she said 'oh, the system actually allows for $700'. Accepted..
Within only 13 months I went from $100 to $2000. The magic of Macy's.. |

Macy's gave me an automatic increase last year from $300 to $1500...I just phoned a couple days ago to see if I could get an increase on my flex (red) card and they bumped me from $1500 to $3100 without any pulls due to my "excellent credit" based on regular soft pulls, according to the rep. Yay. I have always been a person that feels a panic attack coming whenever someone needs to check my credit so hearing her refer to my credit as "excellent" was awesome. Macy's has been invaluable to me for my credit building - guideline increases and a separate $5500 "major purchase" account opened connected to my red card, all without any hard pulls. Love them.....

I just got an in-store red card approval last weekend. I only got a $100 CL but that's fine for now. I'll be calling them every three months. They pulled both EX and EQ..
I remember reading a while back that if you have a Macys card, you automatically qualfy for Bloomingdales. Does anyone know if they match your Macys limit? I am thinking that I'll hold off appling Bloomies until the summer in the hopes of getting a couple of Macys guideline increases, but if they aren't likely to match the limit and start me off at $100, I may just apply sooner.. Thanks.. This post has been edited by Jaymes: 29 January 2010 - 04:37 PM.. |

I applied for Macy's just a few weeks ago over the phone and was approved for $1000. Waited 3 days and applied for Bloomingdale's and received $1500...

My four months is coming up soon, I'll let you know if I can get lucky and get increased automatically..

I cant get them to raise my limit above $2k..
I do have a $3k+ major spending account though so maybe the total of the 2 accounts are as high as they are willing to go... |
