My 1st question is: Applying for us Discover Card/visa cards? Looking forward for any comment. Another question I got... Has anyone had any first-hand experience with this company? They're supposed to be a revolving credit line for health care?.. |

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an answer. You should email the people at Discover Card as they probably could answer your Discover Card question..

Great!.
So would you guys recommend that I go for it? I was thinking that even if I don't use it, maybe I'll just benefit from having another revolving line to help out my overall utilization? I was also considering using it for my Chow-Chow.. |

I wish we could use it more places. It would be nice to get the 0% interest promo period on other items. It really encourages you to pay it off in a timely manner because on the statement it lists the deferred interest you will have to pay if you don't get it paid off by the end of the promo-period.
I'm all for Care Credit... |

Yes you can use it for plastic surgery, vets, dental and a few other places, I plan on using it in a few days to get dental work done, I need over 5k in work done so I'll do like 5-600 get the 0% for 12 months or longer if I can, and than hopefully an increase and get a few thousand done, I have very bad teeth and I keep getting an infection because of it, and it's affecting my heart, I which I had the money to get it all done...
Yes if you wait one day past the period you will pay the entire years worth of interest, so watch out.. This post has been edited by rlee1918: 24 January 2010 - 06:57 PM.. |

I might add that our CareCredit is registered at our.
Vet's office with our cat as an "authorized user." That. Is, any time our cat comes in, the card gets charged.. This is great if we are out of town. The cat-sitter (comes. In daily to change food, water, and litter, scratch ears. And all that) has the name of our vet. If there's a stay. At the kitty hospital senior cat, so it happens then. Nobody worries about the cost.. Normally, this vet requires cash at the front door. The. Card makes this all easy.. ER.. |

I have it and have no problems with it. 12 months zero free interest. My statement shows only 3 months free interest, but turns out it was a mistake on the dentist's part. Will be fixed on the next statement. Also, doesn't show maxed out on credit report. Shows limit and balance...

I opened a care credit account in July 2009 to cover an elective surgery procedure for my wife. My estimate on the cost of the procedure was $3500 so I asked and was instantly approved online for $6500. Before the card came in, I found out her procedure would cost closer to $6500. I called and asked for a bump to $15,000. They counteroffered $10,000 and I accepted..
I charged the $6,500 and got 0% for 18 months. The only thing to remember is that if you only pay the mimimum payment, you won't zero the balance during the promotional term which means you will get charged interest backdated to the date of purchase. For example, my min payment on the $6500 initially showed $250 but basic math tells us I need to pay ~$360 to pay it off in time. I pay $500/mo to build a cushion just in case I need to make a minimum payment from time to time.. I have had absolutely zero problems with the card. They have credited my payments quickly and the few times I have called with a question, customer service was polite and at least tried to be helpful.. EDIT:. I also opened a Care Discover card back in January 2007 for utilization purposes. They closed it for inactivity after about 9 months so it's a use it or lose it kind of card.. That's very true! I didn't use it after elective dental work was paid off and they closed it. I also had an instant credit of $3000 and the work was $4000 so they office asked them to requalify me for $4000 and they said yes. It was pretty easy and an instant decision...

Is it safe to assume that CareCredit TLs are nothing different than any other Discover card revolving account?.
I had to reluctantly apply for this TL recently to help my mother out with her dental bills and to make long story short, I'm stuck with an unused card with 1800 limit on it. Sure it helps my utilization right now but if it's gonna be closed in 9 months since I'm not using it, it hurts me in the long run (new account). I guess I can use this at my dentist to pay a portion of my copays to keep it active but I guess I just want to know if this can be treated like a normal Discover credit card tradeline.. Also, they sent me a letter stating they opened an account in my name but haven't sent me a card yet, does the card take a while to arrive?.. |

Well they only offer the twelve months if you make a purchase of $299 or more, and you must ask for and only certain providers(the dentist) do this, you must ask them before having them run your car, but any purchase that is made is offered at least 3 months no interest, I just used my card for the first time today charged $128 and I get 3 months to pay it off which is great, I plan on having more teeth done, and spending more than $299 to get the twelve months promo, sometimes they dentist screws up and doesn't put in the right offer, but if you call Ge money bank they will enter the promo code and your set.. That is one thing I love about GE money bank cards they offer that, like walmart offers 12 months no interest on $299 and more.. your better off spending that much than paying (with Discover card) the 21.99% or more if you keep a balance.. I don't see a single downside to this card it is wonderful and anyone that needs dental, vision, vet, plastic surgery.. If you need more money then your credit line is, call ask, and tell them you are going use it right away and you have a way better chance of getting approved...

It's a regular TL that only works at certain places. While I haven't found a medical provider that didn't take it, I assume that there are some out there. I use it as a nice little temporary storage place when the balance on my HSA runs low...
